چکیده

Abstract Executive function (EF) is a concept widely used to describe higher order cognitive functioning. However, the seems lack precise definition upon which even experts in area can agree. Examples of existing definitions EF as capacities for independent self-serving behavior and aspects working memory, planning organizational skills. It has been argued that too imprecise, terms informing effective interventions. To possibly understand range behaviors termed more workable way, we administered well-known computerized test (the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test; WCST) sample normal functioning participants ( n = 11). During administration, they were asked questions about their ways thinking. Transcriptions answers analyzed search common patterns, using behavioral theory language cognition (relational frame theory; RFT). The analysis suggested specific relationship between deictic temporal framing, on one hand, coordination spatial other, was effect when performed well WCST. At critical time points during (i.e., need arguably most acute), framing dominated participants’ behavior, whereas relatively less.

Does the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test measure prefontral function?

This review describes a research program aimed at evaluating the validity and specificity of the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST), one of the most widely used tests of prefrontal function in clinical and experimental neuropsychology. In spite of its extensive use, voices of caution have arisen against the use of WCST scores as direct markers of prefrontal damage or dysfunction. Adopting a cog...

[Assessment of executive functions in social phobia patients using the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test].

OBJECTIVE Problem solving and adjusting responses according to feedback are among the executive functions that may be impaired in social phobia patients. The objective of this study was to compare social phobia patients' Wisconsin Card Sorting Test scores with those of controls; thus, our aim was to examine executive functions in social phobia patients. METHOD The study included 36 social pho...

The Wisconsin Card Sorting Test and the cognitive assessment of prefrontal executive functions: a critical update.

For over four decades the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) has been one of the most distinctive tests of prefrontal function. Clinical research and recent brain imaging have brought into question the validity and specificity of this test as a marker of frontal dysfunction. Clinical studies with neurological patients have confirmed that, in its traditional form, the WCST fails to discriminate ...

The role of attention in Wisconsin Card Sorting Test performance.

The present study sought to test the hypothesis that the second factor (consisting of Failure-to-Maintain-Set and other scores) found in two recent factor analyses of the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test reflects attentional function. The effect of color overlays (an experimental manipulation known to influence neural systems linked to attention) was examined in 17 normal control and 14 attention-di...
